Nigelware ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Potterhead mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
Automatically Collected Data
Device Identifier: A unique anonymous identifier for your device to track your game progress and leaderboard participation
Game Statistics: Your gameplay metrics including scores, streaks, house points earned, trivia performance, achievement progress, and wizard year level
Usage Data: How you interact with app features, frequency of use, and session duration
Device Information: iOS version and device model for app optimization
Subscription Status: Information about your premium subscription status and features accessed
User-Provided Data
Username: The display name you choose during the Sorting Ceremony for leaderboards
House Selection: Your Hogwarts house determined by the Sorting Ceremony quiz
Settings Preferences: Your notification and sound preferences
Optional Data: Any feedback or support requests you choose to submit
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
Provide and maintain the App's functionality, including daily games, trivia, and achievements
Display your scores, rankings, and achievements on leaderboards
Track house points for the House Cup competition
Calculate your wizard year progression and achievement unlocks
Send daily notifications for new challenges (if enabled)
Manage your subscription and access to premium features
Improve game performance and user experience

Data Storage and Security
Cloud Storage
Leaderboard Data: Usernames, scores, house points, rankings, and game statistics are stored on Google Firebase servers to enable global leaderboards and the House Cup
Anonymous Identifiers: Your device is identified by an anonymous ID, not personal information
Security: We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or alteration
Local Storage
Game Progress: Daily challenge completions, streaks, achievement progress, and wizard year level are stored locally on your device
Settings: Your notification, sound, and appearance preferences are stored locally
Privacy Note: We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, or other personally identifiable information. Leaderboard usernames are chosen by you and can be any name you prefer.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
Google Firebase: For storing leaderboard data and game statistics. Firebase's privacy policy applies to data stored on their servers.
Superwall: For managing premium subscription offerings. Superwall may collect anonymous analytics data about paywall interactions.
Apple App Store: For processing subscription payments. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchase transactions.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties.
Leaderboard data (username, scores, house) is visible to other users of the App. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes.
Push Notifications
The App may send daily push notifications for new challenges (Pwordle, Spell Connections, Quote of the Day). You can enable or disable these notifications individually in the App's settings or through your device's notification settings.
Subscription and Payment
We use Superwall and Apple's StoreKit for subscription management:
Payment Processing: All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information.
Subscription Data: We track your subscription status to provide access to premium features such as N.E.W.T.s trivia, full leaderboard rankings, and personal stats.
Children's Privacy
Potterhead is designed to be family-friendly. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require account creation or personal details beyond an optional username. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
Choose not to provide a username for leaderboards
Request deletion of your leaderboard data by contacting us
Disable push notifications at any time
Delete all local data by removing the App from your device
Contact us with any privacy-related questions
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Contact us to exercise these rights.
European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, delete, or transfer your data.
Data Retention
Leaderboard data is retained as long as the App is active. Local game data is retained until you delete the App. You may request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us.
App Store Integration
This App is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's privacy policies and terms of service in addition to our own.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or through app updates. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
