My Cover Dog turns one dog photo into a gloriously over-the-top parody magazine cover for Modern Mutt — a deadpan interview, ridiculous stats, a scouting report and a gossip column — that you can save, share, and print at home. Everything happens on your iPhone; your photos never leave your device.
Tap +, choose a photo, and frame it (drag to move, pinch to zoom), then tap Use Photo. Fill in your dog's name and breed, pick two or three personality traits, a sworn nemesis and a signature move, then tap Make the cover. The optional questions are worth answering — the "comedy fuel" meter at the top shows how much the writing has to work with.
Type it in — the breed field accepts anything. The chips underneath are shortcuts for the common breeds, and once you've typed two letters they filter to matching breeds. Anything you type works, including "Mixed / mutt" or something you've made up.
Yes. The App works entirely on your device. Your photos and the covers you make are never uploaded to us or anyone else, and the cover's writing is generated on your iPhone rather than on a server — it works in airplane mode. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Open any cover and tap Remove the watermark. This is a one-time purchase that unlocks clean, watermark-free covers — not just for this cover, but for every cover you make, now and in the future. Free covers can still be saved and shared; they simply carry the Modern Mutt watermark.
Open the unlock screen (tap Remove the watermark) and tap Restore purchase — it's also in the About screen, behind the ⓘ button. Your unlock is tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device signed in with the same account. It also supports Family Sharing.
Yes. Covers export as a true 8.5×11 inch file at 300 DPI, so they print at full size on standard letter paper. Save the cover to your Photos, then print from the Photos app (choose "Actual Size," not "Fit to Page").
Inside the App, on your device. Deleting the App will remove any covers saved within it — but any cover you've exported to your Photos library or shared stays where you saved it.
That's deliberate. The same answers always produce the same cover, so a cover you love doesn't quietly change on you. To get different writing, change some answers — a different nemesis, signature move, or nickname will rewrite most of the page.
Tap the cover to open it full screen, then pinch to zoom, drag to pan, or double-tap to jump in and out.
From the home screen, touch and hold a cover and choose Delete. You'll be asked to confirm — deleting removes the cover and its photo from the App, and there's no undo.
