Nigelware ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Demigod: Camp Half-Blood mobile app (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version: You can play without creating an account or giving us your name or email. The App does use a cloud backend to save your camp progress, run daily leaderboards, and generate AI portraits. If you choose to add a selfie to a portrait, that photo is sent to our image-generation provider to shape the artwork and is not stored by us — only the finished portrait is saved, privately to your device's anonymous ID. We show no ads and use no third-party advertising or analytics tracking.
Information We Collect and Process
The App is designed to collect as little as possible. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or a login. The information involved is:
An anonymous identifier. When you first open the App it signs in anonymously with Firebase Authentication, which assigns a random device-scoped ID. This ID lets us save your progress and enforce fair usage limits. It is not linked to your real identity and requires no sign-in.
Your camp name. A display name you type in for yourself. It is optional and entirely your choice — please do not enter information you would rather keep private.
A public camp handle. An automatically generated in-game nickname (for example, "Bold-Falcon of Cabin 12"). This, along with your score, appears on in-app leaderboards. Your real name is never shown.
Gameplay and profile data. Your godly parent, cabin, level, XP, drachmas, streak, achievements, membership status, and similar in-game state, so your camp persists across sessions.
Optional selfie photos. If — and only if — you choose to add a photo when creating a demigod portrait, that image is sent to our image-generation provider to shape the portrait's likeness. See "Selfies and AI Portraits" below.
AI-generated portraits. The portraits you generate are stored privately so you can view them again on your device.
Purchase status. Whether you hold an active Camp Half-Blood membership. Payments are processed by Apple; we never receive or store your card or payment details.
Technical and anti-abuse data. Standard security signals such as App Check tokens and per-device usage counters, used to prevent abuse of the AI features and to keep the service running.
Selfies and AI Portraits
Adding a photo to a portrait is entirely optional; the feature works without one. When you do add a photo:
The photo is sent from your device to our backend and passed to our AI image-generation provider (Google's Gemini API) to render your demigod's likeness.
We do not store the selfie you provide. It is used only to generate that portrait and is not saved to our databases or storage.
Only the generated portrait is stored, in private cloud storage keyed to your anonymous ID, so that only your device can retrieve it.
You can delete a portrait from within the App at any time.
We do not use your photos or portraits to train AI models, and we do not use them for advertising.
How We Use This Information
To save and restore your camp progress and settings.
To generate the AI portraits you request.
To power in-app leaderboards and daily challenges.
To apply free-versus-member limits fairly and prevent abuse of the AI features.
To operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the App.
Service Providers
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data only to provide their service to us:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and App Check) hosts the backend that stores your game data and portraits and runs the anti-abuse checks. See Google's Firebase Privacy and Security information.
Google Gemini API generates the portrait artwork from the prompt and any optional selfie you provide.
Apple distributes the App and processes all purchases and subscriptions through the App Store.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertising networks or third-party analytics companies. There are no third-party ads in the App.
Data Storage, Retention, and Security
Backend data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure and protected by access rules that keep your portraits and profile private to your anonymous ID. We keep your profile and portraits while your installation is active so your progress is there when you return. If you ask us to delete your data, or you delete the App and ask us to remove your server-side data, we will delete the stored profile and portraits associated with your anonymous ID. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data involved.
Your Choices and Rights
Editing your data: You can change your camp name in Settings and delete individual portraits in the App.
Deleting your data: To request deletion of the game data and portraits tied to your device's anonymous ID, email us at nigeldbentley@gmail.com. Deleting the App from your device removes the local copy of your data.
Access and questions: Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data. Because we hold only the limited information described above and never your name or email, contact us at the address above and we will help.
Notifications: Daily streak reminders are optional, off until you enable them, and can be turned off anytime in Settings or your device's notification settings.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App requires no account and does not ask for a name or email. It does allow an optional photo to be used to generate a portrait; a parent or guardian should supervise use of that feature. If you believe a child has provided a photo or other information and you would like it removed, contact us at nigeldbentley@gmail.com and we will delete it. Please also refer to the App Store age rating to decide whether the App is appropriate for a particular player.
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers an optional Camp Half-Blood membership as an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or annual), which may include a free trial. Purchases, renewals, and any free trials are handled entirely by the Apple App Store — we never receive or store your payment information. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can manage or cancel them in your Apple ID settings. We store only whether your membership is currently active, to unlock member features.
International Users
The App is operated from, and its backend data is processed in, facilities that may be located in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.
App Store
Demigod: Camp Half-Blood is distributed through the Apple App Store and is subject to Apple's privacy policies and terms in addition to this policy.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Changes are effective immediately upon posting.
